  4. Basic Information:
  5.  
  6. This program provides the ability to design and print custom
  7. letterhead and envelopes.   The system provides for an very
  8. simple way to design a logo, etc. to be printed on the top left
  9. side of the paper together with other address information printed
  10. on the top right.

  12. The logo design is simply done using a wordprocessor or notepad
  13. facility such as Sidekick(tm).  An x (or nonblank character)
  14. represents a graphic dot on the printer.  A blank represents a
  15. space the size of a graphic dot.  You design the logo using
  16. blanks and X's on the wordprocessor, creating the logo line by
  17. line.

  19. Required hardware includes an Epson or IBM printer or compatible.
  20. An IBM type of graphics display is useful.  Also a pop up type of
  21. ASCII text editor or wordprocessor such as SideKick(tm) is very
  22. helpful.

  24. Program Functions:
  25.  
  26.    1.  Display the logo on an IBM graphics screen. - This gives
  27.        an indication of how the logo will appear when printed.
  28.        The output from the wordprocessor file is converted to
  29.        graphics and displayed on the IBM type graphics monitor.

  31.    2.  Print the letterhead. - This option will print the logo
  32.        on the top left of the paper.  If an address is provided
  33.        on the appropriate file,  it will be printed on the top
  34.        right of the paper.

  36.    3.  Print Envelope - This prints an envelope with the logo on
  37.        the top left and the senders address below in very small
  38.        type, if desired.  Additionally, the mailing address is
  39.        requested from the keyboard and will be printed on the
  40.        envelope.

  42.    4.  Display documentation. - This is a detailed description of
  43.        how to get started.
  44.  
  45.    5.  Change program default settings. - This option allows the
  46.        standard program defaults to be changed.  Standard
  47.        filenames , number of letterhead copies to be printed,
  48.        printer address, etc. may be modified.

  51. Files:
  52.  
  53.    1.  The output from the your wordprocessor (the ASCII file of
  54.        X's and blanks) is saved with an extension of .PTN. The
  55.        default name is LETRHEAD.PTN, but may be modified to
  56.        anything.PTN as needed using option 5 on the main menu.
  57.        This is the only required file.

  59.    2.  An optional file with an extension of .ADR contains the
  60.        address to be printed on the top right of the letterhead.
  61.        This also may be created with a wordprocessor.  The
  62.        default filename is LETRHEAD.ADR but may be changed to
  63.        anything.ADR using option 5 of the main menu.

  65.    3.  An optional file with the extension of .ENV contains the
  66.        address to be printed below the logo on the envelope.  This
  67.        is usually a partial address containing the street address
  68.        and city/state.  The default file name is LETRHEAD.ENV but
  69.        may be changed to anything.ENV again using option 5 on the
  70.        main menu.  Your wordprocessor may be used to create this
  71.        file as well.

  73. Note:  When creating the ADR and ENV files, experiment with
  74. spacing to achieve the desired effect.  Adding blank lines or
  75. leading blanks before the address information will move the
  76. addresses around a bit.

  78. Getting Started:

  80.    1. Load the program LETRHEAD.COM.
  81.  
  82.    2. Try the various options using the sample logo provided on
  83.       the included files.

  85.    3. Do your own designs.

  91.    Register by mailing $5.00.  If you would like the Turbo
  92.    Pascal(tm) source code to tinker with,  mail $10.00 to the
  93.    address below.  A diskette containing the latest version
  94.    including source code will be returned to you.  With either
  95.    registration, you will be provided with notice of the next new
  96.    release of the system. If there is enough interest and
  97.    support, additional functions may be added such as:

  99.         - Mailmerge type printing of continuous form envelopes
  100.         - Support for Hercules type of graphic displays
  101.         - Support for additional printers
  102.         - Customized labels

  107.    This program and the associated files may be freely copied and
  108.    distributed.  The only restrictions are that the program and
  109.    files not be modified in any way and that all files be
  110.    included in the copy.
